Since 2004, Hackathons have been a big tradition at Facebook. These sessions serve as the foundation for great new product ideas and innovations. Hackathons have also taken it's own awesome form at the University level and to encourage innovation across the world, Facebook is proud to sponsor many University Hacks. Our internal committee came me to for this modernization of their branding.
I enabled sub-branding capabilities through a simple ring-formed crest with a College serif type face to reinforce the University look and feel.
I also created an international version of the logo since the pennant design may not localize well in terms of using it as a metaphor to signify a University level event.
And finally, a simplified hackathon component for use as a sub-brand element in global events that are not Facebook hosted or sponsored.
